Add a Deceased Loved One to a Family Photo with AI

A quiet way to make a portrait that includes someone you miss. Use a photo you already have, add the family who is here, and keep a picture you can hold.

How do I add a deceased loved one to a family photo?

Upload a clear photo of your loved one and photos of the family who will appear with them. Pick a portrait style. Family Photo Maker makes one picture where everyone is together, from photos taken at different times. You can print it or keep a digital copy. Up to 14 people and pets can appear in one portrait.

Which photo of your loved one works best

Front-facing photos with even light work best. The face should be fully visible, without sunglasses or heavy shadow. A recent photo is not required.

  • Old scans and photos of printed pictures are fine if the face is sharp enough to recognize.
  • One person per photo. Crop in if other people are in the frame.
  • Avoid extreme side profiles, group crops where the face is tiny, or pictures taken through glass.
  • If you have two usable photos, try the clearer one first.

Memorial portrait ideas

These styles stay quiet and suitable for a framed picture. They are existing looks in Family Photo Maker, not special memorial filters.

How it works

1

Choose a photo of your loved one

Use a clear, front-facing photo with good light. Old scans and printed photos are fine if the face is visible.

2

Upload photos of the family

Add a photo of each person who should appear with them, up to 14 people and pets in total.

3

Pick a style

Choose a quiet traditional look, a black-and-white portrait, or a holiday scene if that fits how you want to remember them.

4

Generate the portrait

Family Photo Maker makes one new portrait where everyone appears together. It does not edit an old group photo in place.

5

Download or print

Save the high-resolution file. You can print it yourself or order a canvas or framed print.

Memorial portrait questions

Can I use an old or scanned photo?

Yes. A scan or a photo of a printed picture can work if the face is clear and looking toward the camera. Better light and a sharper scan usually give a closer likeness. Heavily damaged or very small faces are harder.

Is it private?

Your uploaded photos are processed securely and temporarily for generation. They are stored in your account so you can access them, and they are not used to train AI models without your explicit consent. Photos are not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the service. You can delete individual photos or your whole account at any time. The full policy is on the Privacy Policy page.

Can I print it?

Yes. The download is high resolution and suitable for cards, photo paper, canvas, and framed prints. You can print it yourself or order canvas and framed prints from the Prints page.

Can I add several people who passed?

Yes. Upload a clear photo of each person you want to include. The portrait supports up to 14 people and pets in total, so several relatives who have died can appear with the living family if you have a usable photo of each.
